"Yesterday Adam Caplan of SiriusXM Radio was the first to report that Matt Nagy convinced former Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress to come out of retirement and join the Chicago Bears coaching staff as an offensive consultant.
Caplan also reported that Nagy will be adding two more assistants; Brian Ginn on the offensive side and Billy Shuey on defense. Both coaches have a working past with Nagy.
Ginn is yet another former quarterback to be added to the Bears staff joining Nagy, Mark Helfrich and Dave Ragone. He was a teammate of Nagy's at the University of Delaware who has 17 years of coaching experience for the Blue Hens after his playing career ended. He has spent time as a position coach with the running backs, quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends before being named offensive coordinator and passing game coordinator.
Shuey worked with Nagy under Andy Reid with the Philadelphia Eagles. He started as the offensive quality control coach with the Eagles before becoming defensive quality control coach. He was promoted to linebackers coach under Jim Johnson in 2008 and held that title for two seasons under Sean McDermott. After leaving the Eagles, he became defensive coordinator at Widener University.
