Lovie Smith's amazing gesture for the Uvalde community
For those of you not aware, Lovie Smith spent over 9 years with the Bears. He had a pretty decent track record in Chicago. He had a win-loss record of 81-63 in the regular season and he won 3 playoff games. His team also reached the super bowl in 2006. He also spent 5 seasons as the head coach at the University of Illinois.
Earlier last month, the Houston Texans announced that Lovie Smith will be their next head coach. I think if anyone can turn around that franchise, it's Lovie. He is a tremendous coach and more importantly, a great leader of man.
He was asked to speak about the Uvalde shootings that happened near Houston where Smith is currently coaching. He announced that his players raised $200K to donate to the Robb School Memorial Fund and the McNair family matched for a total of $400K to aid the victims' families of the Uvalde tragedy.
Of course, money can only do so much. However, it is still an amazing gesture and Smith mentioned that he is willing to help as much as he can in order to solve the problem we have in our communities.
