The son of legendary NFL player and Bear Walter Payton, people often forget that Jarrett played in the NFL as well. He had a stellar year in 2003 at the University of Miami, winning Orange Bowl MVP. This earned him a free agent contract with the Tennessee Titans.
Alas, he didn't make the roster in 2004 and went to the NFL Europe to play for the Amsterdam Admirals. he ran for 578 yards on 104 carries, while also winning a World Bowl Championship. This sent him back to the Titans where he played 13 games for two touchdowns averaging 3.2 ypg. He was cut the following off-season and resurfaced in Canada a year later where he played three seasons.
Apparently he had the chance to play for the Packers after getting cut by Tennessee. Instead of jumping on the end of Favre's career and extending his own in exchange, Payton decided he couldn't stomach tarnishing his father's legacy by allowing the name Payton to be on a Packers jersey. He may have given up an opportunity but in doing so he protected the legacy his father built, kudos to you Jarrett.
