It looks like Mitch Trubisky has been horrible so far in Pittsburgh...
I'm sure most of you are well aware that former bears QB Mitch Trubisky is currently slated to be the starting QB for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Indeed, he recently signed a $15 million contract. This is not the kind of money you pay for a backup quarterback!
However, it looks like Trubisky is not off to the best of starts so far in training camp. Here is a report that should scare some Steelers fans.
The Athletic's Mark Kaboly reports that QB Mitch Trubisky "really hasn't been sharp" while getting all the first-team reps.
Kaboly went on to note that Trubisky is particularly struggling with the "seven shots" drill, which involves the offense and defense facing off from the two-yard line. Trubisky is on an 0-16 streak in the drill and has connected on just 3-of-20 reps throughout all of camp. Trubisky has also struggled in other areas, going 0-for-4 with an interception during a team period Tuesday, with back-to-back overthrows. Trubisky still appears well ahead of Kenny Pickett on the depth chart, but it could be a rough start to the season if Trubisky doesn't clean things up soon. Ominously, Mason Rudolph said before Tuesday's practice that he expects to get some first-team reps eventually.
This is not a great look. But, I am of the opinion that you should never overreact to training camp reports, whether or not they are positive!
