Here is how the Bears could free-up cap space!
If the Chicago Bears want to build a solid, championship-calibre roster, they are gonna have to make some good free-agency signings. Of course, the biggest part of any "rebuild", if you want to call it like that, is clearly the draft. You need to make a pretty high number of great selections. However, you cannot expect to do it exclusively via the draft. Like it or not, free agency signing is a huge part of the NFL nowadays.
The Bears are expected to have around $30 million in cap space this off-season. While it is a significant number, it is not that much and it can be used very quickly if you are not careful. With all of the great available players at the positions that the Bears are in need of (pretty much everything), you would like to maximize your cap space. Here are the players that Ryan Poles needs to cut:
RB Tarik Cohen DT Eddie Goldman Angelo Blackson jeremiah attaochu
If the Bears do cut all of these players, this would create $13 million in cap space. This is a really significant amount of money that would be freed up.
Another player that we have heard so many reports about is Danny Trevathan. We definitely expect him to be cut as well. He would free an additional $3.2 million after June 1st.
