Former NFL CB, who gained notoriety for retiring mid-game, is facing DUI charges after crashing into a disabled vehicle
Vontae Davis, former Pro Bowl cornerback, is in the midst of facing severe DUI charges following a recent car crash in South Florida. According to reports, Davis collided with a disabled car on the highway, causing it to strike a nearby individual who was then transported to a hospital with various injuries. Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered Davis asleep on the shoulder of the road. He stated to the officers that he had only consumed two mixed drinks and was merely tired, leading to his sleeping on the side of the road. The severity of charges against Davis will depend mainly on the injured person's condition.
Davis was drafted as a first-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2009, spending three years in Miami before moving on to the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. During his six-year stint with the Colts, he earned two Pro Bowl selections and established himself as a critical secondary member. He signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2018 but made headlines by abruptly retiring at halftime during a Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Despite a successful NFL career that saw him record 22 interceptions, Davis is still primarily remembered for his sudden retirement, which received substantial criticism. However, this recent incident may alter that perception.
