Former Bears legendary coach retires after 37 years of coaching
Bob Babich, 61 years old, announced earlier today his retirement as an NFL coach. He was truly one of the best coaches in Bears' history. He was with the Bears as a linebackers coach and defensive coordinator from 2004 to 2012. Babich also coached over 18 years in college football. After his tenure with the Bears, he spent some time with the Jaguars, the Chargers and the Bills.
Babich coached some of the best players in Bears' history. Most notably, he was Brian Urlacher and Lance Briggs' coach for multiple years. Briggs took no time to say his appreciation of Babich when the news broke out. He said he was the greatest linebacker coach he ever had. Briggs added: "It was his explanation of the "why" that motivated me to run through brick walls for him."
When Brian Urlacher was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, he asked Babich to present him. It showed how much Babich meant to him. It was a very moving speech.
Happy retirement, Bob. You deserve it! Bears forever.
Here is the reaction of Lance Briggs:
