Falcons Are Trading WR Calvin Ridley To Jaguars... the team he's suspended for betting on...
The Jacksonville Jaguars have acquired wide receiver Calvin Ridley from the Atlanta Falcons, according to Mia O'Brien of 1010 AM, 92.5 FM.
Ridley, who's serving a year-long suspension for gambling on NFL games, is expected to join his new team in 2023. A Ridley trade wasn't expected before the deadline, as he was suspended for the 2022 NFL season for violating the league's gambling policy. He is eligible to apply for reinstatement during the offseason, but it was presumed that a trade might wait until teams were sure of his status.
The Falcons are receiving a 2023 fifth-round pick and a conditional 2024 fourth-round pick in return.
The funny thing is that Ridley is actually suspended for betting on a game that the Jaguars played and he is now part of those same jaguars. Pretty ironic...
