Dick Butkus speaks out on the Super Bowl in a controversial tweet
One of the greatest Chicago Bear ever was part of a little controversy last night. He tweeted out saying the Bears' offensive line needs to watch the opening scene from the movie Saving Private Ryan. The scene he is referring to is the initial 24-minute sequence depicting the Omaha landings. It is a really brutal, yet realistic scene of events from World War II. It was voted the "best battle scene of all time" by Empire magazine and was ranked number one on TV Guide's list of the "50 Greatest Movie Moments".
Some people took offence to that Tweet saying it could be seen as a disrespect to the soldiers that lost their lives during the Normandy landings. It is true that those heroes who sacrificed their lives that day truly deserve so much respect. However, I am certain that Butkus meant no disrespect. He then tweeted out that it was an analogy and he seemed mad that people took it the wrong way.
Anyways, Butkus has a point that the Bengals' offensive line might just get completely crushed by the Rams' strong defensive line. This is by far the biggest mismatch in the Super Bowl. The Bengals' offensive line is one of the worst in the league and the Rams' pass rush is amazing. Joe Burrow will have to do some magic if he wants to give his team any chance. However, he has shown us that he is completely capable of it.
Here are the Tweets from Butkus:
