Details Surface From Derek Carr's Two-Day Session With The New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints have initiated movement in the quarterback market by hosting Derek Carr this week. Carr's departure from Las Vegas is an inevitability, and the Saints were the first team to express interest after the Raiders made it clear they were moving on from the player.
According to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football, Carr had dinner with members of the Saints' leadership at Ralph's on the Park on Wednesday night, with head coach Dennis Allen and offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. also in attendance. The meeting continued until approximately 10:30 PM CT, and Carr visited the team's facility to finalize the visit on Thursday.
Sean Fazende of FOX8 New Orleans reported that Carr was accompanied by his wife, and Tom Pelissero disclosed that the Saints and Raiders have the necessary framework in place for a potential trade to occur. However, a trade is not imminent as Carr holds a no-trade clause in his contract with the Raiders and must give his approval for any move to occur. Nevertheless, things are expected to progress rapidly as Carr has $40.4 million that becomes guaranteed if he remains on the Raiders' roster after February 15. The Raiders also have the option of releasing him.
