Could this Bears legend become the next Bears majority owner?
As you know, the current owner of the Chicago Bears is Virginia Halas McCaskey.
McCaskey, 99, has owned the NFL team ever since the former owner George Halas left it for her following his passing in 1983. She is the longest-tenured owner in the NFL and the oldest owner of a team across the major US sports leagues.
However, it's not quite clear who will take on the franchise once Virginia is no longer able to be the owner. Her son Michael was team president from 1983 to 1999 and was chairman of the board until 2011 when his brother George McCaskey took over. For those, reasons, we expect the team ownership to stay in the family.
