Calvin Ridley was on the verge of being traded prior to his suspension
Calvin Ridley was suspended this week for at least the 2022 season due to gambling on NFL games. It was really surprising news.
Prior to his suspension, Ridley was involved in multiple trade talks. It was extremely clear that he wanted out of Atlanta and that his time with the team was coming to an end. Since he was, and technically still is under contract, he needed to be traded.
A report just came out that Ridley was just about to be traded. In fact, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported that the Eagles were closing in on a deal for the former first-round pick last month when the Falcons suddenly cut off talks. Per source, the Falcons were informed of the NFL's investigation into Ridley's gambling on February 9.
The Falcons had to stop the negotiation after they learned about Ridley's situation.
