BREAKING: Justin Fields will not play on Sunday
Bradd Biggs reported that Bears coach Matt Eberflus says QB Justin Fields came in Monday morning with a sore hip, and he had an MRI that showed a strain. He has been ruled OUT for Sunday's game. Nathan Peterman will start.
Eberflus says it's not a long-term injury but says Fields would have been held out even if the Bears were fighting for the playoffs this week.
"I would just say the health of our football team is important," Eberflus said. "And that ties into everybody. So again, we're gonna look at everybody on our football team and making sure that we're doing what's best for the Bears."
The Bears have lost nine straight games and would currently have the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft if the season ended today.

However, the draft picture is still not locked it entering Week 18.
Indeed, a win against the Vikings could see the Bears fall from No. 2 to No. 4 if the Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals both lose.
The Vikings have little to play for Sunday so there's a chance Minnesota will opt to rest most of its key players in preparation for Wild Card Weekend.
Let,s just say that Peterman starting the game helps the Bears' case at having the No. 2 pick in the draft, or even better...
