Bears re-sign playmaker to a one-year deal
On Monday, the Chicago Bears re-signed Pettis to a one-year contract, according to Larry Mayer from the team's official site. Pettis started in seven games and appeared in all 17 of the Bears' matches last season, accumulating a 19-245-3 receiving line. In addition, he contributed 37 yards on two carries and served as a punt returner.
The acquisition of star wide receiver DJ Moore may result in fewer chances for Pettis to link up with Justin Fields in the upcoming 2023 season. However, Pettis is still expected to play a crucial role in providing depth for the team.
Pettis began his NFL career as a second-round selection by the 49ers in 2018. He participated in 28 games for the NFC West team before joining the Giants in 2020. During his time with these teams, he recorded 52 receptions for 739 yards and nine touchdowns.
