The Bears have placed RB Khalil Herbert on IR meaning he's out for at least four games. A very tough loss for the offense. Herbert was playing at a very high level this season and was in the conversation for starting running back.
Herbert appeared to sustain an injury on a 17-yard kickoff return late in Sunday's loss to the Lions. He will be eligible to come off IR for the Bears' Dec. 18 home contest against the Eagles.
The second-year pro has appeared in all 10 games this season and ranks 11th in the NFL in rushing with 643 yards and four touchdowns on 108 carries. Herbert's best game of the year came in Week 3 when he ran for a career-high 157 yards and two TDs on 20 attempts in a 23-20 win over the Texans.
Herbert was on pace to finish the season with 184 carries for 1,093 rushing yards and 7 rushing TDs.
His 6.0 yards per carry also lead all RBs who have at least 60 carries on the season. Not bad for a guy who isn't even a starter!
