A forward for the Chicago Blackhawks expressed regret for engaging in a fight after getting knocked out during the altercation.
When you can't beat 'em, beat 'em up? That's what Chicago Blackhawks forward Reese Johnson appeared to believe as he dropped the gloves with Montréal's Michael Pezzetta with just 42.5 seconds remaining in a game they were losing 4-0. Pezzetta had been delivering a number of hard hits on the Blackhawks players throughout the game, and Johnson took it upon himself to try and even the score. He managed to hold his ground for a while, landing a few solid kidney punches before ultimately being taken down to the ice.
Unfortunately, the game had already taken a toll on both teams, with multiple players suffering injuries and no goals being scored. To make matters worse, the Blackhawks were still missing their captain and the fighting appeared to be arbitrary. The second fight of the night went just as poorly, with Connor Murphy dropping the Canadiens captain and Josh Anderson taking exception to it.
