Robert Saleh issues warning for Bears QB Justin Fields

Bears quarterback Justin Fields' availability for Sunday's road contest against the Jets is expected to be a game-time decision, coach Matt Eberflus said Friday.

The second-year pro was listed as questionable on the injury report after being limited in practice for the third straight day due to a left shoulder injury he suffered late in last Sunday's loss to the Falcons.

But Jets head coach Robert Saleh issued a warning of sorts to Fields and the Bears ahead of Sunday's game.

«If he plays, we're going to hit him,» Saleh said, via New York News' Antwan Staley. «If he doesn't, we're going to hit the next guy.»

Even though I get what he meant, I'm not sure it was a great things to say about a currently injured player like Fields.

After struggling during his rookie season, Fields has emerged as of late. In 11 games, he has thrown for 1,642 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Fields has also rushed for 834 yards and seven touchdowns.

It's worth noting the Jets could have selected Fields with the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. But the team decided to take Zach Wilson instead, whom the Jets just benched for backup Mike White.
