The Notorious 85' Bears team had Hall of Fame talent on both sides of the ball and was led by All-Time Bears great Mike Ditka.

This roster is arguably one of the greatest ever assembled, and more prominently one of the best defenses of all time. The Super Bowl roster consisted of 11 All-Pros. On the offensive side of the ball, Jim McMahon, Walter Payton, Jim Covert, and Jay Hilgenberg all received All-Pro nods. Defensively Dan Hampton, Richard Dent, Steve McMichael, Otis Wilson, Mike Singletary, and Gary Fencik were all All-Pros that season.

Many of these players have gone on to receive the gold jacket and be nominated into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and some are still waiting for their names to be called.

Most recently there has been a lot of support by former teammates and Bears media fighting for Steve «Mongo» McMichael to hear his name be called. Mongo currently is in a battle with ALS, or more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Many former teammates have been seen rallying around Mongo in his fight and bringing a smile to his face in his fight against this disease.

McMichael certainly had himself a career in his 15 years (13 as a Bear) in the league. McMichael has 95 career sacks and 847 tackles over his decade and a half in the league. Along with this he was nominated as an All-Pro 4 times and received Pro-Bowl recognition twice.

As far as a resume goes on paper he certainly has checked many of the boxes to receive his gold jacket. Former Bears QB, and teammate of «Mongo», Jim McMahon has recently added information where Bears fans can help petition to help the support for the nomination and it can be seen below.
