While talking about Justin Fields' trade to the Steelers, former NFL MVP Cam Newton explained how the NFL has changed since his days in the league and how players, especially QBs, are not able to develop the same way anymore:
It seems like every team is rushing their QBs into becoming a top 10 player in just one year, and the development process is ruined.
"We're not allowing players to develop anymore. We're trying to sell jerseys"

The NFL is a business, we all know that. But it seems like in the last couple of years, the business of the NFL has no more patience for young players. Fans, the media, brand deals, etc. want to see a star right away.
The NFL is rushing QBs nowadays, and Newton is not a fan of that.
