Keenan Allen contract talks get sobering update

Keenan Allen was one of the many star players the Chicago Bears acquired this season, whether via trade or the draft.
Allen is set for an interesting year with the team, especially since he will be competing for targets with DJ Moore and Rome Odunze. However, there is no doubt that Allen will be a good influence for quarterback Caleb Williams.
Unfortunately, there is some bad news coming from ESPN in regard to a contract extension for Allen. Allen has one year left on his deal, and he reportedly went to the Bears about his contract. For now, very little progress has been made. For the most part, it would appear as though the Bears are trying to wait it out to see if Allen was the right fit, in the first place.
"Moore used part of his news conference the day after signing his new contract to stump for an extension for Allen," Dan Graziano of ESPN wrote. "Allen recently changed agents, and with one year and $18.1 million left on his contract, he has approached the team about an extension. But so far, they haven't made progress on that front. The Moore contract, done with two years left on his prior deal, shows that the Bears consider the 27-year-old a key building block for their future along with Odunze. They'll likely wait and see on the 32-year-old Allen before committing beyond this year."
