The Chicago Bears and wide receiver Allen Robinson are coming to the end of the road regarding a possible contract extension.
Robinson is of course currently set to play on the franchise tag for the 2021 season however players still have the opportunity to sign an extension before then.
Unfortunately that deadline has arrived this Thursday, July 15, and a multi year contract doesn't seem to be on the table.
NFL Insider Tom Pelissero reports that both Robinson and Tampa Bay Bucs' wide receiver Chris Godwin have basically no chance of getting a contract done before Thursday.
When it comes to Robinson, Pelissero adds that the wide receiver hasn't had any "substantive talks" with the Bears in months.
"At this point, it seems unlikely a long-term deal will get done,"
Robinson will make $17.98million on the franchise tag and likely hit the open market as a free agent next year.
