While the Chicago Bears announced that Mitch Trubisky would start today, we were close to seeing the GOAT suit up for the Bears' Week 1.
Earlier today NFL Network's Ian Rapoport released a report that both the New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears were also in the battle to try and sign Tom Brady.
According to Rapoport, the Bears made an official offer to Brady which was respectable and had Brady interested.
However with his other options being Tampa Bay, Los Angeles and New Orleans, Brady decided against the idea of continuing to play in the cold.
When all was said and done, the Bears traded for Nick Foles and Brady signed in Tampa.
