Huge news on Thursday afternoon.

The Chicago Bears announced that they've submitted an official bid for the Arlington Race location.

There's been speculation for quite awhile now that the Bears have been eyeing it as a location for a new stadium.

"We recently submitted a bid to purchase the Arlington International Racecourse property. It's our obligation to explore every possible option to ensure we're doing what's best for our organization and it's future. If selected, this step allows us to further evaluate the property and it's potential." Ted Phillips wrote in a statement on Thursday.

While obviously not the perfect location and 28miles from the city, it's gives the Bears 326 acres to play with and brings them closer to their practice facility in Lake Forest.

Could the Bears actually pull off a stadium with a retractable roof and that holds 80k people which could eventually land them a Super Bowl?

We'll see.
