Ryan Pace checked off the top line of his to-do list today as multiple reports have wide receiver Allen Robinson heading to Chicago.

Among those breaking the news this morning was Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, who also reported that the new deal is for three years and worth a total of $42 million, with $25 million guaranteed.  At just age 24, this will give Robinson another chance to cash in as a free agent in 2020.

Pace has overplayed his hand in the past like trading up to get Mitch Trubisky when he didn’t have to and overpaying for Mike Glennon, but this looks like a very good move.  Robinson will get less money than what Sammy Watkins is going to get from the Kansas City Chiefs.  His deal is reported for three years and $48 million with $30 million guaranteed.

The addition of Robinson doesn’t make the Bears receiving corps the best in the league, but it certainly makes it a lot whole better than it was last year.  Pace still has some work to do as potential slot target Albert Wilson appears to be heading to the Miami Dolphins.

This signing now means Pace won’t have to use an early round pick for a receiver.  With all the holes still needing to be filled, Pace can select the best player on the board in both the first and second rounds next month whether it’s an offensive lineman, pass rusher or cornerback.
