Everyone knows the greats, Sayers, Payton, Ditka, etc., but I want to talk about some lesser-known but still impactful players in Bears history. This series will cover some of the forgotten heroes of the franchise in a mini snapshot format.

Shaun Gayle: Gayle was a beast for the Bears playing 11 out of his 12 NFL seasons with the windy city. He was a dependable powerhouse, big, mean, and aggressive. He gave his all every game and never let up. His prime was 1989-1993 when he had four 100+ tackle seasons. Shaun was an integral part of the transition era of the Bears post-Super-Bowl. He definitely deserves some praise.
He was a member of the shuffling crew in the Super-Bowl Shuffle for the 85 Bears. He played Ball at Ohio State University. Gayle owns the record for shortest punt for a touchdown in NFL history. He returned a punt five yards for a touchdown against the New York Giants in the Bears' 1985 divisional playoff victory. Shaun currently works as an NFL analyst for Sky Sports. He is also known for getting bullied over a touchdown Steve Young got off him in a playoff game.
