New Bears head coach had the chance to sit down with the great NFL analyst Cris Collinsworth a few weeks ago. This interview was very interesting.

One subject I liked a lot during their conversation was when Collinsworth asked coach Flus about the importance of depth. With the high-pace defense that he runs, he will need to rotate his player, especially in the defensive front 7.

" The defensive line for us is really about playing in waves, so we have 8 to 9 guys up playing. Our number one player, a guy like Robert Quinn, those guys are going to play more than 50%, there going to play at a 65% range, but most of the other guys are going to play 50% or less of the plays. We want those guys to play at max speed all the time. That might just be 30 plays.

I think this is such a key aspect of a solid defense. I could not agree more with the way Eberflus is going about it. Especially during a long, 17-game regular season, you want your players to be as fresh and as healthy as possible. Of course, during the key moment, key games, etc, the studs like Robert Quinn might play almost every snap, but in most cases, it's a rotation. That's honestly the best way to have all of your players being able to play full speed on every down.

However, in order to be able to do that well, you need to have a lot of depth and this is where GM Ryan Poles and his associate have to work a lot on during the next few weeks!
