8 PLAYERS THE BEARS LET GO OF TOO SOON

Doug Flutie
Doug Flutie has always been a sensitive topic, but you gotta hand it to the man it all worked out in the end. He had a Heisman winning career at Boston College and was drafted into the NFL and USFL. After playing with the New Jersey Generals in 1985, the league folded in 1986.
His player rights were transferred to La Rams who traded them to the Bears for draft picks. He played four games for the Bears in 1986 throwing for 361 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions.
He was then promptly traded to the Patriots. After New England he went to the Canadian Football League then back to the NFL in 1998 for the Bills. He hit a Pro-Bowl that season, throwing for 2,711 yards, with 20 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
While his career was not amazing by any stretch, he did prove that he had what it takes in technically three different leagues. Maybe he needed to go, maybe he could have been a solid number two for us. I may not be sure but it's enough to land him on the number seven spot of this list.
